VPS Platform Comparison

I wanted to start with something that I really did my research on and keep using for a long time. VPS (Virtual Private Server) is simply a cloud server but it is not dedicated only to you, instead it is shared actually. You can think it as a cabinet that has many drawers (a lot!) and one drawer is reserved for you. But the whole cabinet is not for you, it is distributed. Of course, by this way it is way more cheaper than the dedicated ones and honestly I really like since you have still all the control.

Below list is not ranked, so it is in a random order.

  1. UpCloud

It has different categories (for example; Developer, General Purpose, High CPU, High Memory etc.), so you can select accordingly. I think this is the most expensive one among them.

1 GB RAM | 1 vCPU plan is starting from €7/month.

  1. DigitalOcean

It again has different categories (for example; Basic, General Purpose, Memory or Storage Optimized etc.) while selecting the VPS (droplet in this case).

Github Student Pack also has an offer specifically for DigitalOcean, so if you are studying at an university, you can easily go grab the offer.

They also have great documentation.

1 GB RAM | 1 vCPU plan is starting from $6/month.

  1. Contabo

Honestly, this is my favorite since it is really good at pricing and I can definitely say it is a price-performance product. This is the one I am currently using for my lots of work.

8 GB RAM | 4 vCPU plan is starting from €3.60/month.

  1. Hetzner

Hetzner is the European powerhouse. They also have good pricing, not very expensive and it is really solid quality-wise.

4 GB RAM | 2 vCPU plan is starting from €4.49/month.

  1. Vultr

This is the top VPS platform for having the most regions across the globe. I think they have the most OS choices.

1 GB RAM | 1 vCPU plan is starting from $5/month.

  1. OVHcloud

OVH is a massive global infrastructure provider. Unlike companies that rent space, OVH builds their own servers and owns their physical data centers entirely.

8 GB RAM | 4 vCPU plan is starting from $7.60/month.

  1. Akamai (Linode)

I think they are very good at customer support. They also provide many Linux distributions as options.

1 GB RAM | 1 vCPU plan is starting from $5/month.

  1. Hostinger

They are also a domain name provider. You can buy domain name from them, and they have many options for hosting. And they have really nice user interface, I cannot lie.

4GB RAM | 1 vCPU plan is starting from $9.99/month.

That's all folks! See you in the next post...
